Aus diesem Interesse geldwerten Vorteil zu gewinnen ist Ziel, Motivation und Existenzgrund vieler heutiger Unternehmen. Zusammen mit den Verbänden sowie den Akteuren des ausübenden Fußballsports, den Spielern und Vereinen, welche neben der Betonung des sportlichen Erfolgs als primäres Ziel nicht weniger finanzielle Ambitionen hegen, bilden sie den mächtigen Komplex der Fußballbranche. Zu diesen Unternehmen zählen Werbe- und Rechteagenturen, Rundfunkanstalten sowie Unternehmen der Konsumgüterindustrie. Sie alle verbindet das Interesse, am Prozess der Fußballvermarktung teilhaben und materielle sowie immaterielle Leistungen oder Informationen verkaufen oder kommunizieren zu wollen. Vermarktungsmöglichkeiten ergeben sich hierbei entlang der gesamten Wertschöpfungskette, angefangen bei der Produktion der "Ware" Fußball auf dem Spielfeld bis zum "Konsum" durch die Zielgruppe der Fußballinteressierten. Dabei gliedert sich die Fußballvermarktung in die vier interdependenten und teilweise schwer von einander abgrenzbaren Märkte "Sponsoring und Werbung," "Merchandising und Licensing," "Medienrechte" sowie "Eintrittskarten und stadiongebundene Serviceleistungen." Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Vermarktung von Profifußball anhand der Märkte für Übertragungs- und Sponsoringrechte aufzuzeigen und Ausgestaltungen sowie entscheidende Vermarktungsformen mittels Beispielen aus dem heutigen Fußballgeschäft, insbesondere der Fußball-Bundesliga und deren Vereine, darzustellen.
