Sie stellt ein seltenes und daher umso wichtigeres Zeitdokument dar für ein Fach, dass heute aktueller denn je ist. Die Arbeit beleuchtet die Ist-Situation Mitte der 1980er Jahre sowie Gründe für die Unterrepräsentanz der weiblichen Arbeitnehmerinnen in Führungspositionen. Außerdem vergleicht sie die Anforderungen an Führungspersönlichkeiten mit dem weiblichen Sozialisierungsprozess. Über eine Fallstudie in Form einer empirischen Befragung werden diese deutlich. Die Tatsache, daß mit 9,5 Mio Frauen ca. 1/3 aller weiblichen BRD-Einwohner einer beruflichen Beschäftigung nachgehen, verdeutlicht, welche Bedeutung der Frau als Arbeitnehmer zukommt. Doch die Menge der im Berufsleben stehenden Frauen steht in einem Mißverhältnis zu der Qualität der ausführenden Tätigkeit. So finden sie eher in geringer qualifizierten Berufen (Fließband) oder in der Sparte der als typische "Frauenberufe" (Krankenschwester) bezeichneten Anstellungen Arbeit. Das wird deutlich, wenn man z.B. den Frauenanteil in 7 ausgewählten Berufen, die der Sparte Führungsposition zugeordnet werden könnten, berücksichtigt. Bei dieser Ansammlung von Berufen, denen eine akademische Ausbildung vorausgegangen ist, könnte man den Ursprung für die Unterrepräsentanz der Frau in gehobenen Positionen zunächst einmal in einem Mangel der allgemeinen Schulbildung gegenüber ihren männlichen Altersgenossen vermuten. So zeigt sich nämlich, daß die größte Diskrepanz, was den Schulabschluß anbelangt, bei den Abiturienten bzw. Fachoberschülern vorzufinden ist. Hier machen die männlichen Absolventen fast 2/3 aus. D. h. die Anzahl der Frauen, die die Möglichkeit haben, eine akademische Laufbahn einzuschlagen und somit den Grundstein für eine gehobene Position zu legen, ist nur halb so hoch wie die der Män
