Von 1960 bis 1969 erwarb die Stadt Wien etwa 3.100 Kunstwerke, knapp 500 Mosaike, Skulpturen und Spielplastiken wurden realisiert. Band 2 der Katalogserie zur Sammlungsgeschichte prasentiert alle Kunstwerke in einem Werkverzeichnis mit 800 grossformatigen Farbabbildungen. Ausserdem geben Textbeitrage Einblicke in die Architektur, Literatur und Kunst, die dieses Jahrzehnt pragte: Von der "Wiener Schule des Phantastischen Realismus" und der literarischen "Wiener Gruppe" bis zum Wiener Aktionismus, der 1968 in der Aktion "Kunst und Revolution" gipfelte."
About the Author: Berthold Ecker, geboren 1961 in Linz, Studium der Kunstgeschichte und Völkerkunde an der Universität Wien. Abschluss 1995 mit Dissertation über den Wiener Maler Leopold Birstinger (1903-1983). Seit 1991 im Referat Bildende Kunst der Kulturabteilung der Stadt Wien, Betreuung und Neuorganisation der Sammlung moderner Kunst, die mit ihren 16.500 Objekten aller Kunstsparten eine der größten ihrer Art in Österreich ist. 1998 Gründung des "Museums auf Abruf" in Wien. Seit 2003 Leiter des Referats Bildende Kunst der Kulturabteilung der Stadt Wien. Konzeption und Organisation von zahlreichen Ausstellungen im In- und Ausland. Textbeiträge zu Ausstellungskatalogen und wissenschaftlichen Publikationen. Seit Juni 2007 Leiter des MUSA Museum auf Abruf, der Ausstellungsfläche für die zeitgenössische Sammlung der Kulturabteilung der Stadt Wien. Wolfgang Hilger, geboren 1943 in Wien. 1962-1968 Studium von Geschichte, Kunstgeschichte und Germanistik an der Universität Wien, 1965-1968 Ausbildungskurs am Institut für Österreichische Geschichtsforschung mit Staatsprüfung, 1968/69 Beamter am Österreichischen Staatsarchiv, 1969-1978 Assistent an der Historischen Kommission der Akademie der Wissenschaften, 1978-1985 Kunstreferent der Kulturabteilung der NÖ Landesregierung in Wien, 1985-2003 Kunstreferent der Kulturabteilung (MA 7) der Stadt Wien, beauftragt mit Kunstförderung, Kunstankäufen, Organisation von Kunstausstellungen; 1983-2003 Lehraufträge zum Thema Dingliche und bildliche Geschichtsquellen an der Universität München; 1985-2005 auch an der Universität Wien; 1991-2006 Lehrauftrag für allgemeine Kunstgeschichte an der Akademie der bildenden Künste in Wien; 2002 Honorarprofessor für das Fach Österreichische Geschichte an der Universität Wien.
