Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Gemeinschaftskunde / Sozialkunde, Note: 2,0, Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Das Unterrichtsfach Sozialkunde, beziehungsweise auch Politikunterricht genannt, leistet einen wichtigen Beitrag zum Ausbau der individuellen Leistungsfähigkeit, da die Schüler durch Handlungsorientierung von passivem zu aktivem, gestaltendem Handeln ermutigt werden. So wird hierbei auch der Schwerpunkt auf die Entwicklung von Personal- und Sozialkompetenz gesetzt. Durch diese sollen die Schüler lernen, Konflikte partnerschaftlich und gewaltfrei zu bewältigen. Im Sozialkundeunterricht wiederholen die Schüler fachspezifische Methoden, lernen neue kennen und wenden sie an um diese Konfliktsituationen lösen zu können. So auch die Methode der Pro- und Contradebatte, die neben anderen handlungsorientierten Unterrichtsmethoden, wie zum Beispiel Projekte, Erkundungen, Fallanalysen und Rollenspiele, eine zentrale Position im Sozialkundeunterricht einnimmt. Die Pro- und Contradebatte setzt den Schwerpunkt des Unterrichts darauf, die subjektiven Interessen der Schüler zu polarisieren und motiviert gleichzeitig zum eigenverantwortlichen und selbstständigen Handeln. Definitionsgemäß, ist die Pro- und Contradebatte eine hoch formalisierte, an strengen Regeln orientierte Methode für den Politikunterricht, die vor allem einen Beitrag zur rationalen politischen Urteilsbildung leisten soll. Sie unterscheidet sich deutlich von Unterrichtsgesprächen und Diskussionen im Unterricht und ist deshalb von diesen abzugrenzen. Im Unterrichtsgespräch geht es vor allem, um die Beantwortung von Fragen, um die Problematisierung von Sachverhalten und über das vertiefende Nachdenken in Bezug auf ein gegebenes Thema. So sollen die Schüler im Unterrichtsgespräch erst mit dem Thema vertraut gemacht werden.
