Die Journalistin Nicola Steiner rutscht nach der Trennung von ihrem Mann in die Arbeitslosigkeit, weil sie weder vom Kindesvater noch vom Jugendamt Unterhalt für ihre beiden Kinder erhält. Da sie keinen Job findet, versucht sie sich mit einer selbstständigen Tätigkeit selbst an den eigenen Haaren aus dem Sumpf zu ziehen. Aber sie erkrankt erst schwer und als sie gerade erst gesundet ist, gerät sie durch einen Verkehrsunfall erneut in Arbeitsunfähigkeit. Genau zu diesem Zeitpunkt stellt das Jobcenter unter einem Vorwand sämtliche Leistungen ein und ein erbitterter Kampf ums Überleben beginnt. Es ging schief, was schief gehen konnte und endete mit einem Quasi-Todesurteil. Mit viel Wortwitz und Humor hat die Autorin eine Satire geschrieben, die zwar auf Tatsachen beruht, sich aber liest wie ein Krimi.
About the Author: Die Autorin Nicola Steiner ist ausgebildete Redakteurin und Diplom-Medienwirtin. Geboren wurde sie 1965 in Hückeswagen und lebt mit ihren beiden erwachsenen Kindern im Bergischen Land bei Köln. Sie arbeitet als Natural Horsemanship-Trainerin und hilft ihren Kunden dabei, das eigene Pferd besser zu verstehen und eine Beziehung zu ihm aufzubauen. Außerdem reitet sie Turniere im Westernreiten und versucht eine Brücke zwischen dem Turniersport und dem Natural Horsemanship zu schlagen. Trotz langjähriger freier Mitarbeit im Hörfunk sind das Schreiben und das Geschichten erzählen ihre Leidenschaft. Daher wundert es nicht, dass sie in ihrer Freizeit gleich zwei erfolgreiche Blogs ins Leben gerufen hat: Einen Horsemanship- und einen Turnierblog, in dem sie während der Turniersaison Turnierkrimis über ihre Tochter Larissa schreibt. Die wurde mit 'nur' einem Pony Landesmeisterin in der Superhorse und Deutsche Meisterin mit der Jugendmannschaft. Mutter und Tochter beweisen, dass Horsemanship und Turniersport kein Widerspruch sind, sondern dass es so gestaltet werden kann, dass das Turnierreiten zum gemeinsamen Projekt von Pferd und Mensch wird. Es ist der Autorin ein Anliegen, Menschen dabei zu helfen, nicht nur natürlicher mit ihren Pferden umzugehen, sondern auch natürlicher zu leben.
