About the Author: Wilfried Bergholz (geb. 1953) war nach Abitur und Armeedienst ab 1975 redaktioneller Mitarbeiter beim Jugendradio DT64, später freier Journalist in Ostberlin. Im Sonntag veröffentlichte er zahlreiche Artikel. Von 1978 bis 1983 studierte er Klinische Psychologie bei Hans-Dieter Schmidt an der Humboldt-Universität Berlin. Er begann Mitte der achtziger Jahre erste Prosa-Texte zu schreiben, die er 1987 unter dem Titel UMSTURZ IM KOPF selbst veröffentlichte. Er veranstaltete zahlreiche Lesungen, moderierte aber auch Auftritte bekannter Liedermacher wie Stephan Krawczyk, Gerhard Schöne, Norbert Bischoff, Kurt Demmler und andere. 1987 gründete er zusammen mit Ulf Erdmann und Ralf Kleinschmidt das Kinderliedtheater Ulf & Zwulf, für das er bis 2002 fast alle Texte und einige Kompositionen schrieb, bisher 12 CDs. Die erste LP Stadtabenteuer wurde 1988 von einer Kinderjury als Beste Kinderlieder-LP des Jahres ausgezeichnet. Zu seinen wichtigsten Veröffentlichungen dieser Zeit zählen Hörspiele, Texte für die Punkband Die komischen Vögel, das Theaterprojekt Der Mann im Kasten und das Sachbuch Liederleute (zusammen mit Petra Schwarz). Ab 1989 war Bergholz Student am Literaturinstitut Johannes R. Becher in Leipzig und nahm dort an den Montagsdemonstrationen und später an den revolutionären Ereignissen in der Berliner Gethsemanekirche teil. Ab 1990 schrieb er für den Deutschen Fernsehfunk DFF, der erst am 31.12.1991 abgeschaltet wurde, Drehbücher für zahlreiche Kinderfilme. Der SFB sendete zu Beginn der neunziger Jahre drei Prosatexte in der Literatursendung Passagen und vier Geschichten in der Reihe Ohrenbär. 1991 gründete er zusammen mit Gerhard Kämpfe und Dr. Jürgen Hagen die Kindershow GmbH, um die vielfältige Kinderliederszene der DDR zu unterstützen. Seine Produktion Gerhard Schöne singt Kindergedichte wurde 2003 mit dem Medienpreis Leopold ausgezeichnet. Ab 2003 arbeitete Wilfried Bergholz als Kinderpsychologe, seit 2013 ist er wieder schriftstellerisch tätig. Der Autor lebt in Berlin und hat vier Kinder. 2015 erschien seine Autobiografie bei tredition unter dem Titel Die letzte Fahrt mit dem Fahrrad - 19 Gespräche mit Matteo über Mut, Glück und Aufbegehren in der DDR.
