Das Buch erzählt die fesselnde Geschichte der 16jährigen Ina, deren Leben komplett auf den Kopf gestellt wird, als sie erfährt, dass sie das Blut einer Dämonin in sich trägt und die Fähigkeit besitzt, Dinge wahrzunehmen, die anderen Menschen vorenthalten bleiben. Was folgt, ist eine atemberaubende Reise, die Ina immer tiefere Einblicke in die ungeahnte und doch schockierend reale Unterwelt gewährt, die nicht nur der Schlüssel zu ihren eigenen Fragen sein könnte, sondern auch zum Schicksal unserer Welt. In bester Manier des Autors, dürfen Leser sich auf liebenswerte Protagonisten, unglaubliche Kreaturen und eine faszinierende Geschichte voller düsterer Wunder freuen, die man trotz ihrer abgründigen Schrecken so schnell nicht wieder aus dem Kopf bekommt und über deren sozialkritische Seitenhiebe man noch lange nach Abschluss des letzten Kapitels nachdenkt.
About the Author: Ich wurde 1972 im westfälischen Herford geboren, bekannt für das beste Bier und die besten Grillhähnchen (Schalk) diesseits des Jenseits. Schon zur Grundschulzeit verschlang ich die Meilensteine abendländischer Literaturgeschichte (z.B. Die fünf Freunde) mit derselben Inbrunst wie meine Schulkameraden ihre tägliche Milchschnitte. Meine Fantasie nahm alsbald jedoch dunklere Züge an. Stephen King und H.P. Lovecraft zeichneten hierbei für den Horror verantwortlich, J.R.R. Tolkien für die Fantasy und Douglas Adams für den gepflegten post-modernen Sarkasmus. Besonders meine Studienzeit im Marburg der frühen 90er, gepaart mit Techno und dem Rollenspiel Vampire: The Masquerade, pflanzte mir auf ewig ein Nachtschattengewächs blühenden Gothic-Punks in den reichen Nährboden akademisch unterforderter Hirnmasse. Wo andere Menschen die Skyline einer Stadt sehen, sehe ich Keller, Kanäle, U-Bahnstationen und Krypten. Ein weit verzweigtes Wurzelwerk aus geheimen Pfaden, die die Grenzen des empirisch-anerzogenen Mummenschanzes überschreiten, den wir als unseren grauen Alltag kennen - oder zu kennen glauben. Es scheint meine Bestimmung zu sein, mich interessierten Tunnelforschern als narrativer Begleiter anzubieten, um sie sicher durch den Untergrund ihrer ureigensten Wünsche und Ängste zu navigieren. Wohlgemerkt: navigieren, nicht gängeln. Denn ebenso wie das Universum nicht ohne uns als Betrachter existiert, existiert ein Buch nicht, solange es nicht im Zusammenspiel mit dem "Ich" des Lesers zu individuellem, elementarem Leben erwacht. Derzeit lebe ich mit meiner wundervollen amerikanischen Frau in den USA. - Und zwar in Portland, im Ostküstenstaat Maine. Die alten Friedhöfe, Herrenhäuser und salzverkrusteten Gassen der Hafenstadt inspirieren mich vortrefflich. Von meinem alten Zimmerkumpel Stephen King ganz zu schweigen, der nur zwei Autostunden entfernt wohnt. Gutes Karma. Verdammt gutes Karma.
