Dieses kulturpolitische Geschichtsbuch "Die DNA der deutschen Romantik entschlüsselt 200 Jahre nach Walerloo" weist nach, dass den deutschen Romantiker vor allem Konventionen zu einem Wesen formten, das sich durch eine gewisse Weltfremdheit oder Versponnenheit auszeichnet. Dieses Buch will außerdem den inflationären Gebrauch des "Romantischen" eindämmen: Als romantisch gilt den Autoren vor allem der Romantiker, der er einen gesellschaftsverändernden Willen zeigt, sich also politisch im engeren und weiteren Sinne geriert. Auf der Suche nach der eigentlichen Romantik in Philosophie, Literatur, bildender Kunst und Musik entrümpeln die Autoren die deutsche Romantik und weisen nach, dass der deutsche Patriotismus eine pastorale Waldreligion ist. Die Verfasser arbeiten heraus, dass das ideologische Erbgut der politisch Romantiker nach wie vor wirkt: ein Destillat aus Jean-Jacques Rousseau, der Französischen Revolution, einem neuen Caesarenwahn, aus Patriotismen, Nationalismen jeglicher Art, der Restauration, Marxismus-Leninismus, Kommunismus und Nationalsozialismus bis aus New Age- und Ökobewegung. Der Leser erfährt u.a., warum der Erste Weltkrieg schon 100 Jahre früher stattgefunden hat; dass es ohne Napoleon keinen kranken, deutschen Nationalismus gegeben hätte; dass Beethoven Romantiker war und Schubert keiner; dass die Hainbündler und Heine, Hegel und Hitler die Kehrseite derselben Medaille sind; dass Wagner etwas mit Waterloo und dem Waldsterben zu tun hatte, und dass Die Grünen ihre Wurzeln auch im politisch rechten Spektrum haben. Eine Quintessenz dieses Geschichtsbuchs: Die deutsche, politische Romantik kennt keine Krise, sie ist die Krise!
