Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Politik - Internationale Politik - Region: Ferner Osten, Note: 5.5 (von 6) - sehr gut, Universität Zürich (Politikwissenschaftliches Institut), Veranstaltung: Theorien der Internationalen Beziehungen, 15 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In den 30 Jahren seit Deng Xiaoping am Nationalen Parteikongress 1978 sehr vorsichtig, zunächst mit kleinen "kapitalistischen Experimenten" in Sonderwirtschaftszonen, den Übergang von der zentralen Planwirtschaft zur Marktwirtschaft einleitete, hat sich die chinesische Volkswirtschaft mit einem durchschnittlichen jährlichen Wachstum von ca. 9.5 Prozent sehr positiv entwickelt. Als man 1980 als offizielle Zielsetzung die Vervierfachung des Bruttosozialprodukts bis Ende des Jahrtausends propagierte, war man sich selbst von amtlicher Seite her nicht sicher, ob dies überhaupt möglich sei. Dieses Ziel, nämlich bis zum Jahr 2000 ein BIP von 2.8 Billionen Yuan Renminbi (dt: Volkswährung; RMB) zu erreichen, wurde dann aber um ein Mehrfaches übertroffen, indem die Ziffer 2002 die 10 Billionen-Grenze überschritt (ca. 1.2 Billionen US-Dollar). 2005 betrug das BIP gemäss Schätzungen der CIA 1.83 Billionen USD. Am 16. Parteitag der Kommunistischen Partei Chinas (KPC), vom November 2002 wurde von Staatschef Jiang Zemin, dem Nachfolger Dengs, ein neues Ziel formuliert. Man wollte nun bis 2020 den Aufbau einer so genannten "fairly well-off society", zu Deutsch einer "ziemlich wohlhabenden Gesellschaft", anstreben. Dieser politische Terminus, erklärtes Hauptziel der Kommunistischen Partei, bildet auch heute noch einen der wichtigsten Eckpfeiler der chinesischen Staatsdoktrin, und wird in den heimischen Medien täglich erwähnt. Per Ende 2005 betrug Chinas BIP laut Schätzungen des CIA World Factbook ca. 1.8 Milliarden USD, was in China einer Kaufkraftparität von 8.2 Billionen USD entspricht.
