Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Geschichte - Weltgeschichte - Frühgeschichte, Antike, Note: 1,7, Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg (Lehrstuhl für Alte Geschichte), Veranstaltung: Das römische Britannien, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Seit Beginn der römischen Eroberung Britanniens durch Aulus Plautius unter Kaiser Claudius im Jahre 43 n. Chr. versuchte Rom, weiter in die Insel vorzudringen. Nero hatte zum Ziel, die offensive Politik seines Adoptivvaters Claudius fortzuführen, auch um dessen Erfolge nicht zu konterkarieren. Unter Kaiser Vespasian wurden aufständische Stämme wie die Briganten und die Silurer besiegt und so der Weg für Gnaeus Julius Agricola (Statthalter von 78-84) geebnet, der weiter nach Norden bis ins heutige Schottland vorstieß. Die vorliegende Hausarbeit soll die Britannienpolitik der beiden Kaiser Nero und Vespasian mit besonderem Schwerpunkt des Brigantenproblems untersuchen. Zuerst soll kurz auf die Quellen eingegangen werden, die zu diesem Thema relevant sind - Tacitus und Sueton. Danach folgt ein Abriss über den Volksstamm der Briganten selbst, in der konzise über die geografische Ansiedlung und die Kontakte mit Rom vor der Regentschaft Neros berichtet wird. Im Folgenden wird die Britannienpolitik Neros (Kaiser von 54-68 n.Chr.) und Vespasians(Kaiser von 69-79 n. Chr.) dargestellt. Zuerst wird auf die unterschiedlichen Situationen eingegangen, die beide zur Beginn ihrer Herrschaft in Britannien vorfanden. Weiterhin wird beleuchtet, welche Politik sie bezüglich Britannien verfolgten und wie sie diese umsetzten (oder auch nicht): hierzu wird betrachtet, inwieweit die Statthalter der Provinz die Vorgaben des Kaisers umsetzten, inwieweit sie von einheimischen Stämmen, insbesondere den Briganten, an selbigen gehindert wurden oder sie eben aufgrund dieser Reaktionen eine ganz andere Strategie wählen mussten. Im Schlussteil werde ich die Ausgangslage, mit der sich beide Kaiser konfrontiert sahen, und die Geschehnisse in Britannien w
About the Author: Fabian Fuchs, M.A. wurde 1987 in Hof/Saale geboren und besuchte die dortige Waldorfschule. Von 2007 bis 2013 studierte er in Bamberg im Hauptfach Geschichte (Schwerpunkte Mittelalterliche, Neuere und Neueste Geschichte) und im Nebenfach Politikwissenschaft und Betriebswirtschaftslehre. Schon seine Bachelorarbeit verfasste er uber die Geschichte der Hofer Textilindustrie, da er einen geschichtlichen Aspekt seiner Heimatstadt Hof/Saale beleuchten wollte. Auf Anregung seines Betreuers und durch das wachsende Interesse an der Bamberger Stadtgeschichte knupfte er an das Thema seiner Bachelorarbeit an und verfasste das vorliegende Buch mit einem historischen Vergleich der Textilindustrien Hof und Bamberg.
