Wenn Sie Ihre Proteinquellen mit Kraftwerken auf pflanzlicher Basis mischen möchten, ist Tofu eine einfach zu kochende vegane oder vegetarische Option. Tofu ist flexibel und kochtechnisch. Dies liegt daran, dass es in einer Vielzahl von Texturen (abhängig davon, wie viel Wasser herausgedrückt wird) und ziemlich langweilig ist.

Es hat einen subtilen Geschmack, so dass es in herzhaften und süßen Gerichten verwendet werden kann. Es wird oft gewürzt oder mariniert, um dem Gericht und seinen Aromen zu entsprechen, und aufgrund seiner schwammigen Textur nimmt es Aromen gut auf.

- Stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie die richtige Textur auswählen. In Lebensmittelgeschäften reicht es von seidig bis fest und extra fest. Weicher seidiger Tofu wäre meine Wahl, um ihn in Desserts zu mischen oder in Misosuppe zu schneiden, aber wenn Sie ihn als Hauptgericht servieren oder auf Schüsseln geben, ist extra fest das, was Sie brauchen. Es hat eine herzhaftere, dichtere Textur und einen geringeren Wassergehalt als andere Tofusorten. Hinweis: Ich kaufe lieber Bio-Tofu ohne gentechnisch veränderte Sojabohnen.

- Drück es. Tofu enthält viel Wasser, und Sie sollten das meiste herausdrücken, besonders wenn Sie es backen, grillen oder braten. Tofu-Pressen sind im Handel erhältlich, eine ist jedoch nicht erforderlich. Sie können einen Stapel Bücher verwenden oder einfach das tun, was ich tue, und Ihre Hände verwenden, um ihn leicht in ein Küchentuch oder Papiertücher zu drücken.
