Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Geschichte Europa - and. Länder - Neuzeit, Absolutismus, Industrialisierung, Note: 1,0, Universität Stuttgart, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Am 24. August 1572 ereignete sich in Paris ein Massaker, dem schätzungsweise 3000 Menschen, vorwiegend Hugenotten (französische Calvinisten) zum Opfer fielen. Angesicht der konfessionellen Unterschiede zwischen Täter und Opfer und des immensen menschlichen Leides der mit diesem Ereignis einherging, hatte die Bartholomäusnacht eine eminente Bedeutung nicht nur für die französische, sondern auch für die europäische Geschichte. Während Freuderufe im katholischen Lager laut wurden, ant-worteten die Calvinisten auf den Massaker mit einer Flut von politischen Schriften. Einige prominente Beispiele wären Hotmans Franco-Gallia (1573) und Le reveille-matin (1574) sowie Bezas Du droit des magistrats sur leur sujets (1574). Jean Bodin, einer der ersten bedeutenden französi-schen Staatstheoretiker, erwiderte deren Angriffe mit seinem Les six livres de la République zwei Jahre später. Im 16. Jh. gab es noch keine Trennung von Politik und Religion; die offizielle Religion des Landes war gleichzeitig Staatsreligion. Häresie wurde rasch mit Rebellion gleichgesetzt. Und weil die Hugenotten trotz allem Untertanen des französischen Königs waren, bewegten sie sich stets in ei-nem gewissen Spannungsverhältnis zwischen Gewissensfreiheit und Staats-souveränität. Diese Arbeit ist also ein Beitrag zur Herrschaftsgeschichte des 16. Jh. am Beispiel von König Karls IX. Umgang mit seinen Hugenotten. Es geht um das Verhältnis zwischen den Herrschern und Beherrschten und insbesondere um das Widerstandsrecht der Letzteren. Kurzum um die politischen Lehren, die aus der Pariser Bluthochzeit gezogen worden sind. Ich habe dafür exemplarisch zwei Autoren gewählt, die Stellvertreter für die hugenottische Partei (Beza) und die Partei der "Politiques" (Jean Bodin)stehen.
