Amparado solamente por el lenguaje como tabla de naufragio, guiándose por las estrellas que rememoran una infancia de destruidos castillos de arena y la postrera búsqueda, de ese paraíso al que jamás habremos de volver, porque quizás nunca existió, o solamente fue el embrujo de la música marina atrapada en un caracol, que se toma como un suvenir o sirve como el peso para mantener la puerta abierta de una casa que está en un bosquejo de ciudad, aún con trenes, con puentes que se caen como los malos sueños, o volcanes que amenazan constantemente con devastarlo todo. Esos son los dictados que el mar le ha susurrado al poeta cuando ha acercado este libro a su oído. No escatima en presentarnos a su tierra natal, conocida entre sus habitantes como el Puerto sin Mar, y así mantiene un dialogo con sus raíces fundacionales, por lo cual no es de asombrarse que por estas páginas pernocten pasajes que remitan a los negros, al calipso, a una estirpe de poetas que cantaron sus versos por las calles y sus parques; nos perdemos a medida que se avanza, por los afluentes de ríos y lagos o versos escritos sobre la arena con la firme intención de dejar claro que incluso la belleza es perecedera, y la poesía es en sí, la utopía de quien anhela el regreso al mar para enfrentar a los monstruos que destruyen el vértigo del tiempo, aquel que nos robará las huellas que nos dirigían hacia los rompeolas, hacia los epitafios de la Finisterra, a esa estancia final que se nos revela en la muerte, única, contante y purificadora. Este libro se enmarca dentro de un viaje sin retorno, y nos recuerda que, aunque estemos lejos de la brisa salina, siempre habrá un hijo, un verso, una reencarnación en la cual reconoceremos nuestra propia identidad; la que en el caso del poeta Velásquez, es nada más y nada menos, que el gran misterio de la existencia, disfrazada eso sí, en el gran misterio de la mar insondable. About the Author: William Velásquez. Nació en Turrialba, Costa Rica en 1977. Estudió diseño publicitario en la Universidad Autónoma de Centroamérica (UACA). Ha escrito artículos de opinión, reseñas, poemas y narraciones en las Revistas Lectores, Turrialba Desarrollo y Cartago Mío. Fue miembro del Taller de Poesía Nuevo Paradigma facilitado por Juan Carlos Olivas. Forma parte del equipo de gestión cultural de Turrialba Literaria. Su cuento La Anciana sin Rostro se ha publicado en la antología Crónicas de lo Oculto (Editorial Club de Libros, 2016). Dos poemas de su autoría aparecen en la antología Voces del Café (Nueva York Poetry Press, 2018).
