About the Book

King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table conjure up images of romanticized chivalry with the most noble knights doing great deeds. Some may even think of the love triangle that occurred with Arthur's wife Guinevere. But what of Arthur's son; the bastard, the one who slayed the great king?Locked in a cell after the great battle where Arthur fell, Mordred, the bastard son of King Arthur, writes his side of the story as it has never been told before. Starving, with the love of his life; none other than his stepmother Guinevere, dead in the room with him, Mordred resorts to extreme measures to stay alive, and later to redeem himself to what he believes is the great wizard Merlin.Written in a diary addressed for his mother to read, Mordred delves deep into his torn emotion from a twisted upbringing. Not the traitor he is believed to be, he is a victim of horrible circumstance. Will he make it out of the cell alive? Will he make amends with his personal hatred of Lancelot, Morgan Le Fay, and Arthur?
About the Author: Troy Depue is a medieval historian. Having been a published journalist on the Examiner.com for over 7 years Suite 101 for 2, and now on his own website on the topic of Medieval Facts for over a year, he is well versed in how to write well thought out and researched non-fiction articles that reach to a broad audience. He markets these through social media and interacts with his audience. This hard work has gotten him noticed by several top notch media outlets; including the Travel Channel as he was approached and appeared in an episode of a show called Fandemoneum with Adam Richman, as well as being a featured guest on WNPR radio's Colin McEnroe show as an expert on Medieval Jesters. Troy has briefly trained in the medieval sport of jousting, and tries to live a knightly way. He has personally done charity work, including raising money for The ARC of Greater Tarrant County by running in medieval armor in the Texas heat. Troy collects swords and armor from the medieval era, both historical and fantasy style as the both have an aesthetic value to them. He has done different LARP fighting to gain different perspectives on many different interest types. Troy also volunteers at his local library every year for their Medieval Arts Festival where he talks to the people of all ages on all things medieval. Well versed in all aspects of the medieval fandom, Troy is better poised to connect with the general public than most medieval experts. Troy believes that history should be told in a fun manner; as a story rather than just a collection of dates to memorize. believes that many teachers and professors get too caught up in teaching dates, that the historical significance of the actual event gets lost of their pupils. It is much more beneficial if the student learns the events and a general idea of what happened in what order than if they can just spit out dates but have no idea what actually was important on those dates. History should never, ever, be boring, but there are many people in the world today that Troy has come across that are not interested in history because their teacher made it boring. When he isn't focused on the medieval era, Troy is a family man first. His wife and three kids are everything to him. Troy also enjoys ice hockey; having played, assistant coached, and even reported on his local minor league team. Troy was born and raised in the DFW area of Texas where is currently resides.
