About the Book

This novel-essay has not been written with the intention of undermining American culture, or extolling the patriotism of some, but just to give an idea of how this country is seen through the eyes of a newcomer. In these pages you will find the good, the bad and the ugly of both perspectives: the migrant and the receiver. It also shows the point of view of an immigrant under certain circumstances definitely tied to his past. Every wandering person who in search of his destiny crosses foreign borders brings with him different experiences that in turn influence the way other immigrants perform in the future. There are thousands of "journals of immigrants" and they all are helpful. This is my version. My intention is to show the reader a broader view, accepting the other, and learning from each of them. Because the more we learn from others, the better we will be as people. Jerry Gomez Shor Jr.
About the Author: It was thanks to my mother that I showed up in this world on October 29, 1967, at around 10 at night at the Clínica "Hogar de la Madre" in the city of Miraflores, Lima, Perú. Since then, and thanks to my parents, I lived wandering around the world, studied in many schools and got to know many places in Perú. As a grown-up I fell in love with nature and started working at the "Industry without Chimneys" (hospitality and tourism). I later specialized in the culinary area, which took me to visit and dine in almost all of Perú and parts of South America. Today, living in California (USA) and considering myself a "frontiersman" I have begun this new adventure with the release of my fifth book.
