About the Author
Kissed by the sun, Mrs. Monique Carter is a native Floridian from Cocoa, Florida. She is currently residing in Orlando, FL with her husband, Michael, and their twin sons, Micah and Miles, who were born in 2013. Mrs. Carter has over 11 years of experience working in higher education. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Master of Arts in Education degree with a focus in Adult Education and Training. Mrs. Carter has long boasted a passion for helping adults get from where they are to where they want to be. To this end, she has mentored, formed sister circles, facilitated Lean in Circles, and she constantly uplifts women through a Facebook group called Phenomenal Mothers. After going through a chain of unfortunate events, this once vibrant woman of strength and confidence became broken and overwhelmed. Mrs. Carter experienced loss, after loss, after loss-from loved ones and money, to property and jobs. Life was constantly happening to her, she thought. After my mom passed, there were many times I would just cry... Times Id feel like a failure as a wife, mother, daughter and friend. I was unfulfilled and underperforming at my job, and I was feeling unhealthy overall. My husband didnt even know how bad it was, I was so good at hiding it. Picture my toddler wiping my tears asking mommy whats wrong. Though Ive never been diagnosed with clinical depression, I wasnt myself. Something needed adjusting, so I made time in my life to reflect on what HAD to change. You see, once I accepted [the fact that] my life is simply an accumulation of choices I willingly made, I realized how much control I had over my future. Now, Id like to show you what I did to rebuild my confidence, uncover my passion, and look and feel better about my health and physical appearance.
