About the Book

It is the month of October and Dublin is nervously preparing for The Bram Stoker Festival. The Vampire Lucis Diabolis leaves his tomb in the south side and prowls the inner city searching for hordes of junkies. He meets a horde on O'Connell Street beating and stabbing a young couple. The madness and the mayhem of their behaviour intrigues him. When the horde have their pound of flesh they run off to the dirty, syringe and drug infested laneways of the city. Diabolis flying in the sky and looking down at the violent River Liffey in full view follows them until they find their ideal place to cook up heroin. Summoning the rats of the city, who follow him like a master, he transforms into a flying rat, aroused and excited when he sees blood leaving their body from their intravenous heroin use, he aerially assaults them and devours them whole, leaving the rats to clean up the mess they have left behind. After talking to the demons of the city and to its violently departed from suicides and homicides he returns to his cemetery. His body and blood feel utterly sickened and he is sure the blood he is consumed is diseased and plagued with infections which will kill his grip on immortality. The whole day he spends in his tomb he is attacked by the ghosts of the junkies wishing to seduce him. But he stays in the tomb, a proverbial torture chamber, hoping he can survive till night. When night comes Diabolis walks around the cemetery contemplating what can heal his infection. He thinks of those who are buried under the ground of the graveyard. These rich, old, noble people, with their elegant, wealthy tombs, and he longs to desire such noble blood, for it shall surely cure him he believes. But in this day and age, how on earth is the vampire Lucis Diabolis to attain such blood? "A traditional vicious vampire story that will delight horror fans globally." Dizzy Dee "This is a flawless piece of horror fiction, and like John Ajvide Lindqvist did with Let The Right One In, Michael Mulvihill has made vampires terrifying again." Alex Roy, A Blog Of Horror "Exactly how tales of vampires should be - dark, threatening and deliciously frightening. We are presented with a darkly eerie and exciting reading experience as we follow Lucis around Dublin in his quest to feed and rid himself of his infection. Lucis Diabolis oozes a delicious combination of evil charm and sadistic power, exactly how tales of vampires should be - dark, threatening and deliciously frightening." Stuart Anderson, Fifth Dimension Blog
About the Author: Michael Mulvihill is a horror novelist from Dublin, Ireland, who has written two novels, "Siberian Hellhole" and "Diabolis of Dublin."
