Devotionals are an integral part of many Christians' daily lives. This can be a good or bad thing, depending on the devotional and what it is teaching you about God and His Word. One important question that we believe must be asked in relation to the devotionals we choose is: "What does this author/devotional believe and say about the Word of God?" The answer to this question is of the utmost importance. In this book, you will be provided with concise and practical answers to some of the most important questions when you consider choosing a devotional to help you in your spiritual life.
In this short book, the Pastors and Elders of Grace Bible Church have sought to provide the reader with a concise guide to understanding how God speaks to us today, and what bearing that has on our devotional lives as Christians.
"Christians should take care that even their private devotions never deviate from sound theology and the authority of Scripture. This new resource is both a theologically compelling and pastorally sensible application of Scripture's authority and sufficiency to the Christians devotional life."
- R. Albert Mohler, Jr.
President
The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
"The authors remind us of a vital truth in this book, namely, scripture is sufficient for everything, and its sufficiency applies to our devotional life. We don't need to hear any special messages from Jesus apart from the scriptures. What we need is the Holy Spirit to apply the scriptures to our lives today."
- Thomas R. Schreiner
James Buchanan Harrison Professor of New Testament
Interpretation
The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
"The elders of Grace Bible Church have certainly been faithful shepherds - feeding, leading, and protecting the sheep God has entrusted to their care; but in Devotionals: Is God Still Speaking? they have broadened their ministry and widened the warning lest any of God's people be led astray by someone claiming to have a word beyond that which is settled forever in the heavens. These pastors clearly demonstrate that not only is it folly to want some word from God beyond the Bible - it is also totally unnecessary. Nothing is more dangerous to God's people than deriving their notions about Christ from someone's imagination, however well-intentioned they may be. God has spoken clearly, distinctly, and sufficiently in the Word of God Incarnate and has revealed Him in the written Word of God. Thank you, dear friends, for teaching the error of any heart that would ever say, "I know God speaks in His Word, but I want something more." God has given us His all in Christ and all we need for life and godliness in His sufficient Word!"

"Too much of modern devotional writing is a thin broth of human ideas instead of the hearty stew of God's Word. This booklet reminds us that, rather than longing for more than the Bible, we need to long for more of Christ in the Bible. That is true devotion."
