SINOPSIS: Un ex policía en busca de redención llamado Leandro García despierta en la habitación de un lujoso hotel de Tokio, sin saber cómo ha podido llegar hasta allí. Se siente totalmente desorientado y no recuerda las últimas veinticuatro horas de su vida. Dos extraños individuos le extorsionan para que recupere una elevada cantidad de dinero robada a la yakuza por unos agentes corruptos de la CIA. De lo contrario le amenazan con revelar a las autoridades un terrible error de su pasado que cometió como policía. Paralelamente, un joven investigador de seguros japonés algo holgazán llamado Kogoro Takahashi, empieza a trabajar en una reputada compañía aseguradora japonesa, líder del sector, y tratando de impresionar a su nuevo jefe Tetsuo Hasegawa, acaba descubriendo los vínculos entre la empresa y el crimen organizado que controla el barrio japonés de Shinjuku, así como los vínculos con las triadas chinas de Macao. El ex policía español Leandro García, Leo para los amigos, sigue la pista del oro robado por todo Shinjuku, encontrando vínculos de la empresa aseguradora Hasegawa con el crimen organizado, por lo que valora unir esfuerzos con el detective japonés Kogoro Takahashi en la búsqueda de los 300 millones de yenes robados. El investigador de seguros Kogoro se verá contra la espada y la pared cuando el jefe mafioso le ordena vigilar y proteger a su malcriada hija adolescente Susuke, para asegurarse que bandas rivales no le hacen ningún daño, y para controlar lo que hace la chica fuera de casa cuando no está bajo el control paterno. Sobre todo tras el robo de una valiosísima obra de arte que puede suponer la ruptura de las alianzas entre las bandas rivales y el inicio de una guerra por el control absoluto de la zona. Kogoro no puede evitar sentir afecto por la hija de su jefe mafioso, y tras un tenso inicio acaban haciéndose amigos. Mientras investiga la desaparición de la obra de arte, acaba descubriendo las crueles actividades criminales de la organización. Descubre el mundo de la yakuza, los negocios ilícitos que llevan a cabo y sus terribles crímenes. Un funesto día la hija del yakuza desaparece en extrañas circunstancias, y el jefe mafioso culpabiliza a Kogoro por no haberla protegido cuando se encontraba bajo su vigilancia. Sospechan que ha podido ser secuestrada por un clan rival. Kogoro no sabe cómo ha podido desaparecer la chica, y decide investigar por su cuenta porque le preocupa que algo malo le haya podido suceder. Por otro lado tiene suerte de que el gángster no le haya liquidado porque tiene reputación de severo e insensible. El ex policía español Leo García va siguiendo el hilo del dinero desaparecido, para que una extraña y misteriosa agencia de seguridad privada deje de extorsionarle, mientras que el detective japonés Kogoro quiere encontrar a la chica desaparecida, ya que hay algo que no le cuadra, y piensa que le tendieron una trampa. El detective japonés sigue el hilo de pistas y cabos sueltos hasta comprender que en la propia familia yakuza existe una lucha interna por hacerse con el control de la organización y suceder al actual líder, y que la desaparición de su hija tiene que mucho que ver con la guerra civil desatada por el dominio del barrio de Shinjuku, representada a raíz de la ofensa entre los distintos clanes a raíz del robo de un valioso cuadro. El destino del detective japonés Kogoro Takahashi acaba cruzándose con el ex policía español Leandro García, formando una alianza temporal a pesar de sus reticencias con el fin de acabar con la guerra interna en la familia yakuza, rescatar a Susuke de sus captores y encontrar el oro japonés robado. Sin embargo no lo tendrán nada fácil, ya que el peligroso sicario Kazuo Watanabe, tiene planes de venganza que puede poner en peligro la misión de los detectives privados Kogoro Takahashi y Leandro García. ***
