Their future holds heartbreaking twists and turns until one of them faces the ultimate challenge from a rare lung disease. Life and death hang in the balance as they begin down a path toward an encounter with fate and a life-changing event from which there is no return. Excerpt from "The Desperate Note" - This evening, cradling her head in my hands, I begin to cry. My face close to hers, I whisper in her ear, "We love each other too much not to get through this together." She nods her head in agreement, smiles and I see reflected in her eyes an amazing determination to succeed. She beckons me closer and softly issues the promise I've waited to hear, "I'll do what I need to do, just be here for me." I brush her cheek with my hand and give my solemn oath in return, "Without question, I'll be here for you." Their inspirational must-read story of love, caring, devotion, dedication and tenderness with explicitly described emotions allowing the reader to experience their behind-the-scenes gut-wrenching personal feelings as they struggle through an incredible journey. It's extraordinary final outcome will keep you riveted to the very end. Above all, this is a love story. About the Author: Born in San Diego, raised in Northeastern Ohio, he attended school in the small town of Macedonia. Spending four years in the Air Force, most of it in Germany, he returned to the U.S. with his wife Renate and completed his interrupted earlier pursuit of a college education earning 3 degrees and briefly teaching as an adjunct professor at Wright State University. An avid history buff, he and his wife have traveled to countries around the world. Collaborating with her on his first book, The Desperate Note, hopes to bring a major focus on the responsibilities and importance of the role of caregiver or advocate for someone requiring personal or medical assistance. Their love affair over forty years is a testament to their devotion and dedication to each other, their children and family. He feels there is no higher calling than to willingly accept the responsibility and answer the call to act in a caregiving or advocacy role when the situation arises.
