O estudo utilizou um quadro adaptado em seis fases da gestão de crises. O número de investigações sobre gestão de crises em organizações hoteleiras é muito limitado na literatura, pelo que este estudo centrou-se especificamente em hotéis de cinco estrelas e teve como objectivo revelar os tipos de estratégias de gestão de crises numa situação de crise. Foram desenvolvidas 24 questões específicas em turco. Foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas em profundidade com os quadros superiores de alguns hotéis e foram feitas 24 perguntas a cada um dos inquiridos. Foi feita uma análise de conteúdo sobre os dados recolhidos. Os resultados identificaram uma série de recomendações para a indústria hoteleira. Os hotéis turcos foram considerados inadequados na utilização de estratégias adequadas de gestão de crises em situações de crise. Das recomendações sugeridas neste estudo, uma sugestão chave para os hotéis é desenvolver um plano formal de gestão de crise para uma futura crise no sector do turismo e praticá-lo regularmente dentro das suas organizações, uma vez que é provável que a crise no turismo aconteça com frequência.
