Aber auch heute noch ist Musik fester Bestandteil unserer Gesell-schaft. Musik ist ein Kulturgut. Mit Musik lassen sich vielfältige Emotionen oder die Zugehörigkeit zu sozialen Gruppen ausdrücken. Trotz dieser enormen Wichtigkeit sterben die Printmedien, die sich mit Musik beschäftigen, aus. Die Musikzeitschriften werden immer dünner und deren andere Bestandteile, die nicht primär mit Musik zu tun haben, gewinnen an größerer Wichtigkeit. Grund dafür sind Internetseiten wie "myspace.com" und zahlreiche neue Internet Blogs. Umso schwerer gestaltet sich die Konzeption eines neuen Magazins, das auch langfristig rentabel sein soll. Eine punktuelle Marktanalyse ist sehr wichtig um strategische und operative Ziele für das Marketing der Zeitschrift definieren zu können. Die Magazinauflagen der Mitbewerber auf dem Musikmarkt sinken stetig. Die wichtigsten kostenpflichtigen Zeitschriften auf dem deutschen Markt sind "Musikexpress", "Rolling Stone", "Spex und "Visions". Die ersten beiden genannten gehören dabei dem Axel Springer Verlag an. Dazu kommen zahlreiche kleinere Magazine. Die Herausge-ber versuchen aber dabei meistens nicht den Mainstream zu bedienen, sondern sprechen mit einem bestimmen Gerne eine kleinere Zielgruppe an.
