So fängt das Ganze an: Gottwin Thomas Wisweh, Geschichtsprofessor mit einem auslaufenden Arbeitsvertrag, ärgert sich über seinen Instituts-Chef. Auf Revanche sinnend blättert er in einem Nachrichtenmagazin. Seitenweise Parteienstreit, Wirtschaftsprobleme, religiös motivierter Terrorismus und dann: "Gott, ein Hirngespinst?" Um den Siegeszug der Hirnforschung geht es in dem Artikel, um neue Einsichten in unseren Seelengenerator, um das "Gottes-Modul". Als Thomas Wisweh das Heft zur Seite legt, ahnt er nicht, dass das Schicksal gerade dabei ist, seine Karten neu zu mischen. Und Aileen mischt mit. Buchhändlerin ist sie, intelligent, attraktiv. Sie weiß, wie sie ihren Tommy nehmen muss. Eine Parallelgeschichte gibt es, die von Hilmar. Überzeugt ist dieser, dass der Professor von Satan beherrscht wird und in dessen Auftrag steht, die Menschen von Gott abzubringen. Parallelen schneiden sich erst im Unendlichen, heißt es. In dieser Geschichte schneiden sie sich schon vorher. Autor: Jahrgang 1943, Studium der Biologie und Medizin in Leipzig, Magdeburger Hirnforscher, seit 1981 Universitätsprofessor, langjähriger Chef des Instituts für Medizinische Neurobiologie an der Medizinischen Fakultät, 2008 emeritiert. In Vorlesungen und Vorträgen, regelmäßig auch im MDR-Fernsehen, widmet sich Gerald Wolf der Wissenschaft, wie sie ihm am Herzen liegt, vor allem der vom Gehirn und dem, was es aus uns macht - und wir aus ihm. Neben zahlreichen Publikationen in Fachzeitschriften und Büchern schrieb Gerald Wolf die Wissenschaftsromane "Glaube mir, mich gibt es nicht" (2009) und "Das Liebespulver" (2013).
