Dieser sieht sich mit dem Vorwurf konfrontiert, er wurde den eigenen Sohn auf dem Altar der Offentlichkeit opfern. Sein Optimismus zerbricht, er ringt mit dem grossen Niemand. Die Novelle Fraulein Stark (2001) erzahlt vom Erwachen des Geschlechts. Ein Schuler verbringt seine Ferien im Stift St. Gallen und entdeckt in der Bucherarche das andere Geschlecht. Zugleich keimt sein Interesse fur die eigene Genealogie auf, deren judische Wurzeln tief in die Gewaltgeschichte des 20. Jahrhunderts hinabreichen ...
