Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Kunst - Fotografie und Film, Note: 1, Universität Wien (Institut für Theater-, Film- und Medienwissenschaft), Veranstaltung: Übung Medienanalyse, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Was geschieht, wenn Fotografien eine der Hauptrollen im Film bekleiden? Susan Sontag nennt dies eine subtile[re] und strenge[re] Methode, Fotos zu bündeln. Sowohl die Reihenfolge als auch die Zeit, die der Betrachter jedem einzelnen Bild widmen soll, ist festgelegt; außerdem erhöhen sich die visuelle Qualität und die emotionale Wirkung, weil die Fotos größer, lesbarer, stärker in den Mittelpunkt gerückt sind. In seinem Filmessay Bilder der Welt und Inschrift des Krieges von 1988 versucht Harun Fa-rocki sich und die ZuseherInnen der Shoah mit Hilfe solch eines Verfahrens anzunähern. Statt dem Blättern im Geschichtsbuch, wo wir, zumindest innerhalb der aufgeschlagenen Seiten, relativ frei von einem Bild zum andern wandern, wahlweise den dazugehörigen Text lesen oder auch nicht, ergibt sich eine exakt vorgegebene, auch zeitlich eingegrenzte Bildreihenfolge mit Kommentar, was in eins zu setzen ist mit einer bestimmten Perspektive. Auch die technischen Möglichkeiten der Kamera, vor allem der Zoom, werden zur Untermauerung die-ser genutzt. Noch lässt sich anhand der formellen Darlegung kein klarer Unterschied zum konventionellen Dokumentarfilm, welcher nicht selten auf Fotografien zurückgreift, feststel-len. Ein solcher tut sich erst auf, wenn man/frau sich den Blickwinkel, aus dem der Holocaust bei Farocki betrachtet wird bzw. werden soll, verdeutlicht. Denn in der Auswahl der Bilder, der Dauer und Methodik wie sie präsentiert werden und besonders durch ihre Kommentierung erfolgt eine Art Fremdstellung des Blicks.
About the Author: Sandra Folie hat Deutsche Philologie, Theater-, Film- und Medienwissenschaft und Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft an der Universität Wien studiert. Seit Februar 2016 ist sie DOC-Stipendiatin der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften (ÖAW) an der Abteilung für Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft der Universität Wien, wo sie über Labels zeitgenössischer 'Frauenliteratur' promoviert.
