Returning home one morning after a tour through New Orleans, a traveling musician finds his wife in her bed with a handsome twenty-something year-old.

From that moment on, his life starts to go downhill, so much so that he begins to wonder if he is no longer in charge of his existence, and that someone else is writing the script that is to become his life. In the hopes of finding some answers, he begins a journey to the end of the world, where he meets Roberto Ampuero, an old writer who has lost his memory. On his journey to the unfathomable bottom of humanity, he learns how pleasure, sex, power, and politics became protagonists.

An intriguing novel, where all certainties seem to vanish when facing an uncertain world; it all comes together in a seductive narrative dance that will take hold of its reader until the very last page.
About the Author: Roberto Ampuero es uno de los escritores chilenos más leídos. Entre sus libros figuran las novelas La otra mujer, Los amantes de Estocolmo y Pasiones griegas, las memorias Nuestros años verde olivo y Detrás del Muro, y la serie policial de Cayetano Brulé. Su obra ha sido traducida a quince idiomas. Ha vivido en Cuba, Alemania, Suecia y México, y reside en Chile y Estados Unidos. Obtuvo su BA en la Universidad de La Habana, y su MA y PhD en The University of Iowa. Es fellow del prestigioso International Writing Program (IWP).
