About the Book

Marked by the Creator, Emily Walker morphs into a medium with a wicked sixth sense. This ability is meant to communicate with those less fortunate souls who died before completing their duty to the contracts made with members of their soul tribe. Emily's direction is clear; to use her sixth sense to bring lost souls back to the Source. But before these souls can enter the next level of grace, they have to save the soul of another ready to make the same mistake. When they succeed, they become deathlinks or invincible energies that fight the negative forces determined to drown humankind in the evil of their own making. But this task is daunting but must be executed.

The personal stories of Emily and her comrades depict human weaknesses and how they affect the fate of others. Spirits who stay in their hell and never advance to rebirth become creatures that haunt and torment those seeking peace and salvation. Bumps, thumps, cold spots, and shivers thrill readers as they follow the specters unlike any seen by ordinary beings. They are hell-bent on the destruction of the deathlinks and their companions and each story is more thrilling than the last.

The Deathlinks series is a wild ride starting with Deathlinks and the Marking of Emily and is chocked full of rich characterizations and riveting plot twists. The novels are based on the spiritual talents of their characters and their place in the world. It promotes the idea that the sixth sense is a gift from on high, and while the Earth is threatened with ruin, the Source uses those who possess these gifts for a divine purpose. Emily Walker endures darkness and disappointment over an existence spent in obedience to the Creator. The reader is drawn into intense portrayals, bonding them to the characters and inspiring an everlasting relationship with them that lasts from one book to the next in the series.
Deathlinks and The Marking of Emily is the latest of Duesel's books. Its main center is on Emily Walker's initiation into the world of mediumship. She collects her mediums, deathlinks, interpreters, gammas, a time walker, and a rogue devil to fight against the Darkness. They urge souls towards love instead of hate, to grow towards compassion and kindness. The threat of the apocalypse is imminent and not what many believe it to be. The trek is scary and sometimes downright chilling as they have hair-raising adventures facing down evil in its many forms to stop the destruction of the beautiful planet Earth.

Duesel took the bones from her previous book, Deathlinks, and built deeper, richer characters and subplots. She took out a great telescope and powers it in. Characters, who were earlier just touched upon, have become major players in the series, and situations previously experienced by the main characters are broadened. The variety of personalities face episodes in their journey that mold them into super souls, and the relationship with the Source becomes more circumspect and less targeted on specific ideology.
