Books Description
What do you think of life during hard time and struggle - should you quit or give up or WHAT?
Some individuals have given up hope due to traumatic experiences and challenges which they are facing, that seem insuperable as if they can never be overcome. Some quit, while some surrender believing that highly addictive drugs are their best solution. If you know someone that is going through a lot maybe a bad drug addiction and you feel that they can't make it to the top again, "The Death Complexion" is their springboard and blueprint.
According to American Addiction Centers (2018), "A recent study indicates a much higher rate of lifetime crack cocaine use among African Americans (4.6%) compared to Caucasians (3.7%) and Hispanics (2.3%)." The organization further emphasizes that "(6.9%) of African Americans have a substance use disorder compared to a rate of (7.4%) among the total population."
"The Death Complexion" illustrates the life of a young African American man name, Larry Hughes, who have already given up on life because he was not brought up well. Larry undergoes hell in his childhood and loses his most lovely sister in the process due to the negligence of their mom and the absence of their father. Due to his anguished pass, Larry becomes a vagabond, unemployed, and addicted to a harsh drug crack cocaine.
Later on in life, Larry meets again who he used to do drugs with name, Danyele Williams. They both must use their powers of willpower, love and sagacity to become better. Through their process Larry realizes that his past isn't the only nightmare that troubles him, not until he hears Danyele's story. Now the both of them must make a choice either to not care, while continuing to live in their troubled past or break free from their past so that they can be free now (Krishnamurti), therefore, becoming magnanimous in spirit. As Krishnamurti says, "Without freedom from the past, there is no freedom at all,"
