About the Book

Finally, Steve and Wendy find the time to take a few days to relax at the fishing lodge, take advantage of some fishing and read the manuscript Melanie has been working on. But the more he reads, he realizes there are some problems that need to be addressed. His rest and relaxation is interrupted when, on their way to New Providence, Valerie and Mary pay a visit to let him know Gail needs his help. That sets him off on a mission that will find him teamed up with his friends to take care of a situation in which he is all too familiar.
About the Author: On a hot, sticky, Orlando late summer September day in 1951, S.K. Wilkins, made his grand entrance into this world to the cheering of the masses. Okay, maybe not the masses but his father, older sister, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents were excited about his arrival. All through elementary and junior high his teachers would write on his report cards, "Daydreams too much." Sitting in class he'd stare out the window wishing he was somewhere other than a boring classroom listening to his history teacher expound on the Teapot Dome Scandal (insert yawn here). He wanted to be at the beach, up in the sky flying an airplane, paddling his canoe down a spring run looking for gators and bears or exploring the orange groves, woods and swamps near his home. He wanted to be outside exploring. Steve's an intelligent person and learned a lot from school, but he learned more by doing. It was during this time in junior high he taught himself to play the guitar and started a band, took up surfing and flying...not model planes, real ones. Even as much as he was a free spirit, he was raised by conservative parents who highly encouraged him to attend college so he went to college, mostly part time and got a degree in business administration, tried the corporate management thing for a few years and hated every moment of it, then decided to follow a dream. He had a lifetime of experience in photography he learned from his father starting at a very young age, and also in high school, so in his late 20's, he went back to school and received a degree in photography and during that time, he realized photojournalism was his forte. Photojournalism would give him the chance to travel, get behind the scenes and see what life was all about. His travels didn't take him all over the world, but he was able to spend time in Cuba, the Caribbean and all over the North American continent. Steve was never a writer per se. He never wrote for any newspapers or publications and hardly wrote letters and wasn't one to sit down with a book unless it was something by his favorite authors; Mark Twain, Carl Hiaasen, Jimmy Buffett, Hemingway, John MacDonald along with a few others. Another thing that surprised them was his stories. It was his best friend of over 30 years that after reading his first few books, recognized Steve Logan, the main character was the alter ego of S.K. Wilkins. Mark Twain is credited with saying, "write about what you know", so that's what he did.
