Tras las extensas tierras de boj, los productivos abejares y la cría caballar que poseen desde muy antiguo, siendo prósperos negocios que gobierna su autoritario padre, sus ojos serán tristes testigos de la esclavitud con que someten a las gentes más pobres y desvalidas, y sus palpitantes emociones brotarán con ímpetu en su corazón, el cual se abrirá conduciéndola a la rebeldía para acabar rompiendo con todas las cadenas impuestas. Sin embargo, un terrible hecho, crucial, inesperado y que ha de permanecer oculto, hará que el rumbo de su destino dé un completo vuelco a su vida; sus pasos la embarcarán entonces hacia Barcelona, ciudad industrial, cosmopolita y moderna, donde un nuevo camino poblado de obstáculos, miedo e incertidumbre se presentará ante ella, haciéndose patente y hurgando en sus heridas.

Esta novela retrata el poder de las clases más elevadas del siglo XIX, que ejercen su tiranía sobre los bajos estratos sociales. Ante todo, el amor y los profundos sentimientos de las protagonistas las empujarán a intentar hallar la luz en un tiempo que todo se lo ponía en contra; un tiempo en que solo podían ser ángeles del hogar.
Refleja una atmósfera donde también la naturaleza cobra máxima importancia, al igual que la metáfora poética se enreda en una prosa honda e intimista y la perspectiva de género se incluye en cada párrafo. Las arraigadas tradiciones y costumbres de los pueblos montañeses, con sus acérrimas creencias y supersticiones, y la balanza desequilibrada en torno a las mujeres son temáticas que se hilan emotivamente.

BIOGRAFÍA DE LA AUTORA

Raquel Victoria (Zaragoza, 1978) es novelista y poeta. Comenzó su andadura literaria a través de los relatos que su abuela le contaba, lo que le inspiró la creación de su primera novela Las raíces de la encina (Certeza, 2013; reedición, 2022), en la que da voz y dota de sensibilidad a las mujeres de su familia en un siglo XX español de hambre, opresión y silencio. Tras su ópera prima, vio la luz su novela La posada del pozo (2018), cuyo estremecedor escenario se sitúa entre los años veinte y la guerra civil española, y rescata del olvido a aquellas mujeres valientes que lucharon por sus derechos y libertades. De bordados a sedas (2023) es su última y más subjetiva novela, donde, con un lenguaje muy lírico, aborda el universo femenino desde las altas clases sociales en la España del siglo XIX.
Como ponente ha tratado temas sobre la desigualdad de género; así como ha participado en certámenes literarios locales como jurado.
Autodidacta, versátil y polifacética, escribe, asimismo, narrativa breve, crítica literaria y artículos de toda índole.
Habiéndose formado en los últimos años en materias de género o históricas en distintos centros educativos, además de haber dejado atrás su labor como Técnica Sanitaria Especialista en Laboratorio, hoy la escritora se dedica a aquello que más le apasiona: crear sus obras con perspectiva de género y enfocando los trágicos acontecimientos de otro tiempo, y lo hace ahondando en los sentimientos por medio de su prosa poética y de sus versos.
