Este libro resume historias de vida de catorce ciudadanos polacos, quienes arribaron a Comodoro Rivadavia en dos corrientes migratorias diferentes. Los primeros llegaron siendo niños, cuando sus padres abandonaron su país en busca de trabajo. La segunda inmigración extá conformada por excombatientes de la segunda Guerra Mundial, que participaron en distintos frentes de combate y también en guerrillas clandestinas, en su país ocupado. Al finalizar el conflicto, estuvieron en desacuerdo con el régimen comunista y decidieron emigrar. Este país les abrió sus puertas sin restricciones, y en él pudieron vivir en libertad.
En estos relatos se refleja el amor a su tierra natal y el apego a ese suelo patagónico en el que se integraron a la sociedad, trabajaron duramente, formaron su familia y algunos incluso dieron rienda suelta a diferentes inquietudes artísticas.

María Teresa Dittler es escritora y Licienciada en Enfermería. Se desempeñó durante años en el Consultorio de Medicina Laboral de la fábrica de cemento en la ciudad de Comodoro Rivadavia. En dicho lugar tuvo oportunidad de conocer la historia de la misma y de los ciudadanos polacos que trabajaron en ella, a quienes visitó durante cinco años con el fin de escuchar y luego escribir sus relatos. Colabora actualmente con la revista "Inmigración e Identidad", que dirige Cholo Rei.
