About the Book

The author claims to be the driver of a Tiger tank. In one paragraph, he will be driving along complaining that he can barely see out of his vision blocks (which is realistic). But when fighting starts, he can see incredible detail on what is happening hundreds of yards away. He can see everything happening to his front, to his sides and to his rear. He can see the faces of enemy tank drivers through the vision blocks in their tanks, for example, when they are destroyed. He sees planes as they drop bombs and he sees where the bombs land.

In battle, only the most dramatic and improbable things happen. A plane shot down will invariably crash into a tank destroying it. Everyone shooting seems to hit on their first shots with improbable results like "tank turrets cracking open like eggs" so our driver can see the people inside dying and describe it in gory detail.

Everyone dies the most gruesome death possible and the author somehow sees all of it. There is no confusion of real war. Our driver somehow sees the shooter and the target and it is very clear what happened right down to the facial expressions of people who are hit.

Many of the tank battles occur at point blank range with tanks running into each other. Which is improbable. Every bomb dropped from a plane hits something. Improbable.

At one point, a bridge is shelled by Katusha rockets which are very inaccurate in real life. In one barrage, every rocket seems to score a direct hit on the bridge with horrific results. To get revenge, our Tiger drives out at night and finds the offending Katusha rocket launcher all by itself. As a commander, would you put your rocket artillery forward of your front lines at night with no support? Apparently the Russians did. As a Tiger commander, would you be able to just drive out at night (hours after an artillery attack) BY YOURSELF and find an enemy artillery piece? It would be like finding a needle in a haystack and you would be very likely to be destroyed by infantry since you are all alone. But in the end, our Tiger crew gets revenge by destroying the rocket launcher and drives home.

If you are a history lover and want to find out about the facts of World War II, then, this book is right here for you!
