Forschungsarbeit aus dem Jahr 2002 im Fachbereich Medien / Kommunikation - Journalismus, Publizistik, Note: 6 (CH) = 1 (D), Universität Bern (Medienwissenschaftliches Institut), Veranstaltung: Medienwissenschaft, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Sommer 2000 waren einige britische Pädophile Opfer einer medialen Hetzkampagne. Verschiedene Zeitungen veröffentlichten Fotos, Namen und vermutlichen Aufenthaltsort straffällig gewordener Personen. Mit der Forderung nach drakonischer Bestrafung der Delinquenten und immer lauterem Ruf nach Vergeltung heizten die Blätter die Atmosphäre an. Die Folge war ein Lynchjustiz-Klima in Grossbritannien. Diese hysterischen Szenen muten aus schweizerischer Perspektive auf den ersten Blick befremdend an, scheinen doch solche Hetzjagden gegenüber Minderheiten in der Schweiz undenkbar. Allerdings genügt ein Blick in die jüngere Geschichte des Landes, um zu erkennen, dass auch Personen in der Schweiz schon auf ähnliche Art und Weise ins mediale und öffentliche Fadenkreuz geraten sind. Im Herbst 1956 schlugen sowjetische Truppen die ungarischen Aufständischen nieder, die sich gegen das stalinistische System aufgelehnt hatten. Die Schweizer Regierung, die Parteien und die Medien reagierten einerseits mit riesigen Solidaritäts- und Sympathiebekundungen für das gebeutelte ungarische Volk und andererseits mit einer Welle der Empörung gegen den Kommunismus. Die Wut und den Zorn bekamen besonders jene im Land zu spüren, die sich trotz der blutigen Ereignisse in Ungarn weiter zur kommunistischen Ideologie bekannten und der kommunistischen Partei der Arbeit treu blieben. Eine massgebliche Rolle spielten bei der Anheizung des antikommunistischen Klimas die damals noch viel stärker an politische Parteien gebundenen Medien. Diese Arbeit hat daher zum Ziel, die Berichterstattung von Schweizer Zeitungen über Schweizer Kommunisten, beziehungsweise über die kommunistische Partei der Arbeit, während und kurze Zeit nach der Niederschlagung des Ungarnaufstandes
