Seit Mitte der sechziger Jahre ist Curriculum-Theorie und -Entwick- lung in der Bundesrepublik im Gespräch, aber erst in wenigen Ansät- zen realisiert. Vorbild sind neben Schweden vor allem die USA. In bezug auf den politisch-historischen und sozialwissenschaftlichen Fach- bereich (Social Studies) sind die Interessenten bisher nur oberflächlich informiert. In den USA stehen mit unterschiedlichem Gewicht zur Diskussion: die Integration der traditionellen Fächer Geschichte, Sozialkunde und Erd- kunde zu einem sozialwissenschaftlichen Fachbereich; die Notwendig- keit einer wissenschaftstheoretischen und historisch-politisc: hen Begrün- dung der politischen Didaktik mit dem Interesse an Emanzipation; die stärkere Rezeption der Sozialisations- und Lernforsc: hung durch eine solche politische Didaktik und die Bestimmung der familiären, schulischen und darüber hinausgehenden gesellschaftlic: hen Sozialisa- tionsfaktoren. Der Band dokumentiert Curriculum-Theorie und Curriculum-Projekte der sechziger Jahre. Er hätte seinen Zweck erfüllt, wenn er eine sehr gründlic: he, aber auc: h sehr kritische Rezeption und Kooperation der Theorie und Praxis des sozialen und politischen Lernens einleitete. Sie ist eine gesellschaftspolitische Notwendigkeit. Der einleitende Beitrag von Antonius Holtmann gibt einen überblick über die Curriculum-Entwicklung in den USA und liefert einen kri- tischen Vergleich zur politischen Didaktik in der BRD, mit der Forde- rung nach Kooperation. Die beiden Texte von Jerome S. Bruner skizzieren die Ausgangsposi- tion der New Social Studies und die Hypothesen, um die der Streit in den sechziger Jahren geht (concept and structure).
