Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Theologie - Systematische Theologie, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die jahrhundertelange Uneinigkeit zwischen evangelischer und katholischer Theologie dar-über, welche Rolle die guten Werke im Heilsgeschehen einnehmen, ob, wie es die reformato-rische Tradition lehrt, eine Rechtfertigung aus Werken grundsätzlich ausgeschlossen ist oder, so die Ansicht der katholischen Lehrtradition, ob der Christ durch gute Werke seine Seligkeit und Rechtfertigung im Endgericht verdienen muss, bleibt trotz einiger Versöhnungsversuche bestehen. Dieser Streitpunkt hat seine Ursprünge nicht zuletzt in dem widersprüchlichen Zeugnis der Paulusbriefe. Der Apostel Paulus, der als erster den Glauben der Gemeinde theo-logisch hinterfragt und reflektiert hat, scheint uns eine unauflösbare Antinomie hinterlassen zu haben, wenn er einerseits schreibt: "Denn wir urteilen, dass der Mensch durch Glauben gerechtfertigt wird, ohne Gesetzeswerke." (Röm 3,28); "Denn Gottes Gerechtigkeit wird darin offenbart aus Glauben zu Glauben, wie geschrieben steht: 'Der Gerechte aber wird aus Glau-ben leben'." (Röm 1,17); "Da wir nun gerechtfertigt worden sind aus Glauben, so haben wir Frieden mit Gott durch unseren Herrn Jesus Christus, durch den wir im Glauben auch Zugang erhalten haben zu dieser Gnade, in der wir stehen (...)." (Röm 5,1f.); andererseits findet man bei ihm folgende Aussagen: "Denn wir müssen alle vor dem Richterstuhl Christi offenbar werden, damit jeder empfange, was er durch den Leib vollbracht, dementsprechend, was er getan hat, es sei Gutes oder Böses." (2. Kor 5,10); "Nach deiner Störrigkeit und deinem un-bußfertigen Herzen aber häufst du dir selbst Zorn auf für den Tag des Zorns und der Offenba-rung des gerechten Gerichtes Gottes, der einem jeden vergelten wird nach seinen Werken." (Röm 2, 5f.). Es scheint so, als wäre sich Paulus dieser Widersprüche nicht bewusst oder als hätte er einen Ausgleich
