About the Book

You will like this book if you are an organizational leader, a pastor or aspiring to be one. It is a must read for ministers. This is an autobiography of Revered Simon Kamau which include his pastoral work and experiences in the Full Gospel Churches Of Kenya from 1995 to 2020. It's a real life with challenges that many pastors under go while performing their duties under other people. I've served in this denomination (a subgroup in a religion with a common name, tradition, and identity) 25 years. The Full gospel churches Of Kenya is a Christian denomination. According to the Bible, the denomination is not the Church as the church are the called out once, irrespective of which denomination they come from. Christ is the head of the invisible universal church, which Christ told Peter that even the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I have been in the denomination thinking that being a leader there is service to God. Not realizing that God is not actually looking for workers but true worshippers who will worship him in Spirit and truth as he told the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well. Every member in the body of christ is called to minster in the market place. We are all witnesses of what Christ has done for us and we can tell it to others, not in a church building but wherever we are. In fact God has no distinction between clergy and laity but he calls us a kingdom of Kings and priests. A denomination is an organization similar to the one in Corinth whose problems Paul was addressing. The same problems that affected that church are still here with us. We don't run away from them but we try to solve the solvable and to learn from them. Remember we learn more during crisis than when things are good. This is to say that I have learnt a lot during my service in the denomination. The main thing that has helped me is persererance in faith and never quitting before time because quitters never win nor do winners quit. I always drew near to God, I spoke truth in love, I held unswervingly to the hope I profess, I spurred and was spurred by my wife, children and genuine friends towards love and good deeds, I did not give up meeting together and to encourage those that need encouragement and in the process I was encouraged myself. This word gave me strength throughout my tribulations, "Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you" (Isaiah 41;10). A Swahili proverb says; "Ukiona cha elea jua kime udua." That is to say, when you see a boat floating on the water, know it has been made. Some three instances during my pastoral calling. I Was thoroughly scrutinized, denied funds, isolated and unwarranted transfers. In 1995, I was a church elder until year 2000 when when I became an assistant pastor after three months of scrutiny, that is closely, thoroughly, critically, investigating every nook and cranny as ordered by my senior pastor to make sure I don't serve with him but because of Gods call, after 3 months of this process, while waiting for the result I was finally declared a pastor. But I had to wait for 3 more months before I was assigned work to do. I left the job I was doing in the transport industry where I was earning KSH15, OOO and ther benefits and in the church the pastor gave KSH 5000, he started to isolate me just because I was doing my in Biblical studies saying that I want to be the senior pastor finally, He started working out my transfers not even considering that it was affecting my small children and even myself, socially, financially and also psychologically. Many pastors and members asked me how are able to accept all this and I say "patiently." Many invited me to go and partner with then in their ministries but after much consideration, I saw that if I leave my denomination, I will go with some, leave some behind and some will question whether salvation is genuine. But God's time is the best I am in Beulah Heights University for my Doctorate.
