About the Book

Defense lawyer Melvin M. Belli is an internationally famed trial lawyer. He lived in San Francisco but he had won his reputation in cases and courtrooms around the world. As one of history's most successful personal-injury lawyers, he has won millions of dollars in awards for plaintiffs. He is the author of the six-volume Modern Trials, a standard reference in the legal profession, in which he sets forth his theories on demonstrative evidence.

Mr. Belli received his AB Degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1929 and his LL.B. from Bolt Hall in 1933. Later that year he was admitted to the California Bar. Since 1940 he had been senior partner in Belli, Ashe and Gerry, a San Francisco Law Firm. Since 1951 he had conducted the Belli Seminars on the Law. He is the author of legal texts and several popular works on the law, the most recent a work with Daniel Jones on Life and the Law in Russia.

Mr. Belli's co-author is Maurice C. Carroll, a reporter for the New York Herald Tribune, who was in the Dallas basement when Ruby shot Oswald and who covered the Ruby trial for his newspaper.
