This volume of devotional material is the compilation of both ancient and contemporary sacred conversations between the ever-living, ever-loving God, our heavenly Father and believing men and women and children of all generations who are struggling with the challenging and changing circumstances of life, the hopes and the fears, the disappointments, the agony, the joys and doubts, and the hurts and uncertainties of life.
This author herself participated in these sacred conversations as a teenage believer unto the gathering twilight years of her productive ministry of encouragement. These reflections capture the spirit of Horatio Stafford's hymn:
When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll
whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.
The thoughtful reader will hear the echo of Moses' encouragement to ancient Israel, and to us, "The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath, are the everlasting arms" (Deut. 33:27, NIV).
