About the Book
"Hello, yes, you, hello...you homophobic, sexist, transphobic, racist bigot you. Come on, admit it, you are, whether you like it or not, because I said so, and that is all that matters, what I say and what I believe, it is my "own truth" and that makes me right. Because my feelings are superior to your facts. You're a sinner, face it. Now don't get all puffed up and angry, I don't care about your intent, I've no time for your microaggressions and privilege, because this is my safe space. We all live in a deeply bigoted country where discrimination is rife, and the state systematically enforces this discrimination. The above is a truly frightening idea to me, that we are not what I thought we were, particularly as I work in the area of equality in the sciences and have always delighted in understanding the different and embracing the new. What do you think? It is nihilistic, narcissistic balderdash of the first order. Balderdash that I, and maybe you; are seeing similar patterns in your life. For all the years I have been on this planet, and particularly in the UK, I have witnessed a generally enlightened and tolerant culture and peoples who collectively have brought us so much on so many levels. But of late, I have seen a disturbing trend towards separatism, by identity, by thought and by action. You may dismiss that statement as nonsense, I did at first, but incident became incidents, and coincidences occurred far too often and at that point I realized that something, somewhere was going terribly wrong. As incidences of this kind of wicked thinking became more common, I was forced to face the rather frightening notion that here in the UK, we may well be heading to hell in a handcart. Do you think that? I didn't, until recently, and what I discovered shooketh me to such an extent that I wrote about it, a "note to self" so to speak. It's amazing how feeling lost and being totally at odds with what seems normal can motivate. So, in the long and oh so dull lockdown enforced by Lady Corona; I had the time (in between shifting from couch to couch for a change of scene) to try to get my head around a cultural phenomenon that I believe plagues this sceptred isle. With what seemed to be a will of its own, this "note to self", mutated into a rather ranting and angry mess, a mess that was never meant to exist as a book. But hey ho, all's fair in love and war, so here it is, for your pleasure or displeasure, and I hope that you will give it a chance. For if you, wonder as I did, who would gain from weaponizing our difference, rubbishing our heritage and assaulting reason and enlightenment, then this conspiracy drenched polemic may strike a chord. That's it isn't it, the big question, the who. Ask yourselves, who benefits, and why? Well that detective, is the right question; the game's afoot. Because cults can be dangerous, and this imagined cult of mine may be the most dangerous of the lot, a collective delusion of enormous size. So dig in, adopt a critical stance and please prove me wrong, for all that follows is hypothesis alone, for truth I will leave to you. Reviews
