Bei zunehmender Marktsättigung, wenig rentablen Pre-Paid-Geschäft und einem eher stabilen Umsatz pro Kunde ist das notwendige Umsatzwachstum vor allem durch die Akquisition von Vertragskunden zu erzielen, die von einem anderen Anbieter wechseln. Ein umfassendes Verständnis des Customer Switching Behaviors ist dazu unerlässlich, um im Wettbewerb um Wechselkunden (2003 laufen deutschlandweit ca. 14 -16 Millionen Mobilfunk-Verträge aus) gegen die Konkurrenz zu bestehen. Im Mittelpunkt dieser Arbeit steht deshalb die Konzeptualisierung, Operationalisierung und empirische Überprüfung eines Kausalmodells zur Erklärung von Customer Switching Behavior von Mobilfunk-Kunden. Anhand der empirischen Erhebung können dann die aufgestellten Hypothesen überprüft und damit das Kausalmodell zur Erklärung des Customer Switching Behaviors von Mobilfunk-Kunden als Ganzes bewertet werden. Jede Maßnahme, mit der es einem Anbieter gelingt, persönlichere Beziehungen zu seinen Kunden herzustellen, ist geeignet, ökonomische Überlegungen der Kunden bei der Wahl des Anbieters zu relativieren und emotionale Gründe in den Vordergrund zu stellen. Diese Maßnahmen festigen damit die Bindung zu den bisherigen Kunden und reduziert deren Wechselwahrscheinlichkeit. Die Berechnung von Wechselwahrscheinlichkeiten für die Vertragskunden eines Unternehmens ermöglicht die Identifizierung von gefährdeten Beziehungen zu profitablen Kunden und bildet damit die Entscheidungsgrundlage für einen effizienten Einsatz finanzieller Mittel zur langfristigen Bindung einzelner Kunden.
