Hay textos excepcionales, que parecen tener el poder de marcar a todo el mundo, en un sentido o en otro. En contados casos, ese poder de marcar se extiende a la totalidad de la obra del autor. Estamos entonces en presencia de un texto, de una obra, de un nombre propio, universalmente imprescindibles.

Es lo que pasa con Freud. No puede dejar indiferente. O apasiona o se lo detesta; en los dos casos se padece una pasión equiparable. No habla Freud de algo que pudiese no interesarnos, sino de lo que nos compromete de entrada, aunque sea porque no podemos librarnos de ello; de aquello que creemos más íntimo y suponemos, además, inviolable: de nuestros propios procesos psíquicos, de lo que coloquialmente denominamos nuestros pensamientos, de lo que tenemos dentro de la cabeza. Habla de ello, y da una teoría de lo psíquico. Habla de nuestro psiquismo: del pensamiento, de por qué pensamos tan mal, de lo irracionales que somos (mientras pretendemos otra cosa), de por qué tan a menudo nos duele lo que llamamos pensar...

Sobre el libro

El presente volumen agrupa las transcripciones de una conferencia inaugural y tres clases, pertenecientes todas ellas a la xx convocatoria del Curso de Introducción al Psicoanálisis organizado por el Espacio Psicoanalítico de Barcelona (EPBCN) e impartidas por Josep Maria Blasco en la temporada 2016-17. Carlos Carbonell ha realizado las excelentes y minuciosas transcripciones y ha comprobado la exactitud y correcta referencia de las abundantes citas freudianas. Los textos resultantes han sido revisados y parcialmente reescritos para facilitar su lectura, intentando mantener en lo posible la frescura y la secuencia de la exposición oral.

La asistencia a los cursos introductorios, cuyo carácter es divulgativo, es muy variada, por lo que acostumbramos a ensayar un discurso polifónico, con la intención de llegar al mayor número posible de alumnos. El reflejo de ese propósito podrá ser advertido en el estilo de las clases, la variedad temática de las interpolaciones y la diversidad de las preguntas y respuestas. Esa heterogeneidad del texto, inherente y buscada, constituye a la vez, según pensamos, una de sus riquezas; confiamos en que así lo apreciará también el lector.

El estudio de la obra freudiana puede resultar arduo si no se dispone de una sólida preparación previa. Es por esa razón que hemos puesto todo nuestro esfuerzo en hacer comprensible el texto estudiado, utilizando para ello diversos expedientes.

Por un lado, hacemos aflorar su estructura argumentativa, extraordinariamente articulada, pero también diseminada en una ilación de largo aliento, lo que le confiere un estilo nada explícito, que a algunos les puede resultar inhabitual.

Por otro, hemos añadido numerosos esquemas, que ponen de relieve los diversos remachados conceptuales y también las relaciones lingüísticas que, en general, han resultado opacadas por la traducción. Finalmente, hemos intentado aliviar la exposición mediante el recurso a exposiciones actualizadas, cuando la articulación freudiana lo permite, y a conexiones con la actualidad cultural y científica.

El libro puede ser leído de forma autónoma, o bien utilizarse como complemento a la lectura de las mencionadas Conferencias de introducción; el que elija lo primero podrá encontrar un número suficiente de citas e inclusiones en línea como para no perder el hilo de lo que está en cuestión. Naturalmente, a los alumnos de nuestro curso les recomendamos que se decanten por la segunda opción y que, si tienen que elegir una sola obra, opten sin dudarlo por la freudiana.
