An evangelist of Jesus Christ, mother, Navy veteran, author, and most of all, a survivor-these are the words that describe Shimeka Collins! With an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, she is led by the Spirit when she created such beautiful stories and poems as in her first book, God Is Able. This was a book of prayer poems written from her personal experiences. The Holy Spirit leads as she writes each poem. Every poem, every passage, every story, Shimeka is consumed with the Spirit of the Lord, and it is evident in her writing.
Shimeka proudly served in the US Navy combat team for almost two decades, earning the rank of petty officer first class. Shimeka served selflessly, helping her shipmates and giving leadership to her fellow younger sailors, who today praise her for guidance to become the best Navy had to offer. Shimeka was huge on leadership and on making sure that all sailors serve with honor, courage, and commitment.
Shimeka has faced so many personal challenges in her life. Her strength to overcome and survive the difficult times makes her a character beyond reproach. You can feel her pain, her beautiful soul, her will to survive, and her love of God in her writing. Her stories, poems, and her writing will speak to you as she pours herself into delivering positive and blessed messages.
