Reviews
1. RAW AND RIVETING.
I got this book quickly expecting some sort of colorful insights about the cultures of different
countries but was surprised that it wasn't about that at all. Even if it wasn't what I expected, I
couldn't put the book down. It was a very visceral account of what it feels like to live in a shelter,
without your own home and seemingly with no hope nor direction, and the struggle to try to
succeed. At times it was tear-jerking, angering at certain parts but in the end, it's a book that fills its
reader with hope. It is a great book for anyone who is struggling in some form or another!
2. THIS IS A REAL LOOK AT REAL AMERICA
The contents of the book might not justify the title but in reality, this is part of the true American
culture because it is real and it is happening. It is quite obvious that the author is pulling from reality
because her words seem to strike true and really bring you in on the life of someone who is
homeless. Many people might disagree, but it IS culture-the culture and the way of life that many
Americans are struggling with on a daily basis. A must read for those who want a look at the Real
America.
3. PREPARE FOR A ROLLER-COASTER RIDE
Everyone will enjoy reading this, but it will test your range of emotions to the absolute limits. It
doesn't beat around the bush and goes straight to the story of homelessness from a Black American
woman's point of view. You'll get to see what it really is like to be in such a situation and it will
change your perspective forever. 10/10, highly recommended.
