I Foodini sono Sean Lawson, Jenn Andreoli e Chris Warren, cuochi che hanno collaborato a una serie di video e webcast che rapresentano i loro amici, le loro storie e le loro ricette in Toscana, Italia e sull'isola di Dominica nei Caraibi. Negli oltre 30 anni in cui ho vissuto nel borgo medievale di Sorano in Toscana, ho avuto la grande fortuna di essere invitato nelle case e di essere sfamato da molti degli accoglienti cittadini. Due, in particolare, sono diventate le mie zie adottive, e tra loro mi hanno insegnato la maggior parte di quello che so sulla magia della tavola italiana. A differenza di me, sia Sean che Jenn hanno avuto una formazione formale nelle scuole di cucina. Sean si è stabilito a Sorano circa 15 anni dopo il mio arrivo. In precedenza aveva lavorato a Londra per sette anni come chef in vari ristoranti. Sean è nato a Sunderland, in Inghilterra, dove sua nonna aveva un negozio di fish and chips, che lo ha ispirato a seguirla nel business della preparazione del cibo. Quando era giovane, la sua famiglia si è trasferita a Auckland, quindi la maggior parte della sua istruzione scolastica, la formazione culinaria e i primi dieci anni di lavoro in cucina sono stati in Nuova Zelanda.


Jennifer - Jenn - è originaria di Toronto, dove sua madre e il suo patrigno lavoravano nell'industria cinematografica. I genitori impegnati di Jenn l'hanno spesso lasciata a cavarsela da sola, così è diventata una cuoca esperta e sicura di sé fin dalla tenera età. Il padre di Jenn, Tony Hall, aveva una formazione da architetto ma era uno scenografo di professione. Aveva il sogno di costruire un boutique hotel ai tropici, e così la famiglia si è lasciata alle spalle la corsa al successo e si è trasferita sull'isola caraibica di Dominica quando Jenn aveva otto anni. Il bellissimo Zandoli Inn ha aperto nel 1992, ma Jenn ha continuato ad andare avanti e indietro tra il Canada e Dominica. Alla fine si è laureata in cucina, ha guadagnato le sue abilità culinarie, e poi nel 1996 ha aperto ed è stata il capo chef del ristorante di grande successo Universal Grill a Toronto. Tony Hall morì improvvisamente nel 1998, e alla fine Jenn tornò definitivamente in Dominica per aiutare sua madre a gestire lo Zandoli Inn - e rese il ristorante il migliore dell'isola.
