Casi veinte años de poesía se reúnen en estas páginas. Y cuando digo casi bien podría estar hablando de cien años o de mil, porque, como bien sabemos, el tiempo, tal y como lo conocemos los mortales, no puede alcanzar a los poetas de verdad, que son inmortales, y Luis Cruz-Villalobos es uno de ellos. Es uno de esos pocos que son capaces de escribir un poema que cuente con la salud de la roca que lleva milenios a la intemperie y de hacer uno con la frescura del primer grito de un recién nacido sin que la muerte se entere. Y es que si se le da una mirada rápida a la historia de la poesía podremos notar que quienes han sido capaces, o simplemente privilegiados, y han podido escribir algo que perdure, han sido tan pocos que pueden listarse en un poema, y este no sería un poema de largo aliento. Además es bien sabido que son pocos los poetas dignos de antologar algo que valiera la pena de su trabajo. Y, yendo todavía más allá, hasta el fondo de la herida que nos causa lo bello, los poetas prolíficos como Cruz-Villalobos no cuentan con la buena reputación de los dioses del Olimpo, pero esta, si me lo permiten los jueces de la ciencia de la medición, es una de las excepciones a la regla. Pero hablemos de Cuando las lluvias tengan otro color, que es lo que nos convoca a estas páginas. La dedicatoria de esta antología pública (diría personal, pero la poesía verdadera es un bien común, una herencia de los siglos, y que es de todos los que todavía no nacen) es una declaración de principios, si no es que se trata de una de amor a la poesía. Dice así a la que ha soportado mis piedras ilusorias/ y con quien hemos conocido las lluvias de otro color. Con eso sería suficiente para saber que a partir de esos dos versos no somos más que unos náufragos indefensos a la deriva ya en el mar que es el néctar de Cruz-Villalobos. En este libro hay aromas que nos regresan a la infancia y al principio de todo, así como hay sonidos que nos alejan de la guerra, música para adormecer a la muerte y corrientes de aire que, además de llevar hojas secas en su viaje, nos elevan por los aires mientras las aves vuelan por debajo de nosotros. Sin lugar a dudas, si entramos sin prejuicios a este conjunto de invenciones, como si fuéramos niños, libres, también saldremos sin ellos, y resultaremos un poco más cerca de la frontera del país del asombro. Estaremos a salvo en estos tiempos de prisiones por capítulos. Casi veinte años de poesía se reúnen en estas páginas, y digo casi porque en realidad son siglos, y digo poesía por no decir belleza. Es aquí donde, parafraseándolo, digo que cuando las lluvias tengan otro color, el poeta Luis Cruz-Villalobos seguirá titilando en la lejanía del firmamento, a lo mejor debido a que la pluma todavía se desliza sobre la roca, o porque así se ve cuando nace la poesía del futuro, donde la lluvia tiene todos los colores.
