About the Book

**********

Dr. Victor Vega Ceballos was born in Camaguey, Cuba, in 1901 and achieved an amazing cultural and political career throughout the 20th century. After graduating Law School from the University of Havana in 1924, he taught as well as worked as a lawyer. He occupied important positions in the Department of the Interior for over eight years. In exile, his newspaper articles spanning over 20 years enabled his readers to keep Cuba alive in their hearts. He died in Miami in 1996 at the age of 96. He dedicated his life to the noble ideals of fighting for the freedom of his homeland, loving God, his family and neighbor, imparting justice, teaching youth and spreading culture.

His daughter, Dr. Maria Vega de Febles, and grandson, Dr. Eduardo A. Febles Vega have made possible this book with their painstaking compilations.

This collection of newspaper articles contains a prologue by Dr. Horacio Aguirre, who was director of the Diario Las Americas in Miami, where the majority were originally published. They are divided by topic: Cuba, Camaguey, characters, family, religion, journalism, exile and other themes. Also included are commentaries by colleagues, students and friends of Dr. Vega Ceballos, as well as chronology and pictures of his life. An exceptional Cuban deserves to be read and studied by the new generations of Cuba, when this suffering period of its history, created by Castroism, passes.
