About the Book

Wellness in all dimensions-physical, creative, social, expressive, spiritual, having self-awareness, and balance-form the building blocks of a good life. How do we develop tools to create and enjoy our own good life? The "good life" is not the default selection for our journeys on this earth. Obstacles abound-illnesses, misfortunes, mental stresses, upset stomachs, etc. Using insights and tools from yoga, knowledge from modern science, and tools of technology, "Create Your Own Good Life," guides you with practical tools, beautiful photographs and advice. It offers a blueprint to assemble the needed ingredients for the good life. The key is to perform actions that enhance our mindfulness so the gap between what we know and what we do is minimal. Cultivating mindfulness creates a good life. This book gives you clear guidance to make your own good life.
This book provides an understanding of the following concepts:
What are the key wellness challenges for our brain and for our mind in todays age of technology and global trade?
What is karma? How does rational karma differ from mysterious karma? How do we understand and deal with situations where bad things happen for no apparent reason?
What are the anchors that help us prepare for a holistic path where our wellness enhances the wellness of others?
What are the eight limbs of yoga and how do they help us prepare for life's journeys?
What are useful techniques to enhance mindfulness?
Jasprit Singh was born in New Delhi, India in 1953. His parents, Gurcharn Singh and Gursharan Kaur arrived in Delhi a few years before his birth as refugees due to the partition of India into India and Pakistan. As a child Jasprit observed how mindfulness could provide a rich life even in material poverty. Jasprit Singh is currently a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. In addition to his work in science and technology, Jasprit has deep interest in the use of yoga to enhance personal and social well being. He has founded the RussaYog(r) style of yoga and runs studios and training centers in USA. You can find out more at www.russayog.com. Currently his technical work is focusing on developing technologies that help us stay mindful so the gap between our desires, resources and actions is minimized.
Jasprit and his wife Teresa have been married since 1979 and have two sons, Nirala and Nihal."
