Contigo pan y cebolla es una comedia en cuatro actos y en prosa del dramaturgo Manuel Eduardo de Gorostiza. Fue publicada por primera vez en 1833 tanto en Londres como en Madrid por la Imprenta Cunninghan y Salmon y por la Imprenta de Repullés en el mes de julio, respectivamente. La obra se estrenó en Madrid a mediados del mismo año, y en la Ciudad de México el cinco de diciembre en el Teatro Principal.Si le gusta reírse, descargue y disfrute esta comedia escrita por el dramaturgo Mejicano, Manuel Eduardo de Gorostiza. Esta obra de teatro en cuatro actos, se dice que Gorostiza escribió para tratar de curar a su hija, Luisa de un encaprichamiento amoroso con un pretendiente sin dinero - y por supuesto la escribió para entretener.En esta comedia, Matilde -muchacha de 17 años- influida por las lecturas de novelas sentimentales, cambia su parecer de desposarse con el joven don Eduardo. Al intuir que la decisión de Matilde se ve trastocada por el deseo de pobreza y adversidad derivado de tales lecturas, Eduardo finge estar desheredado y pide a su suegro, don Pedro, simular un gran desprecio por él, situación que lleva a Matilde a aceptar casarse "de manera clandestina" con don Eduardo y aceptar vivir en un cuarto desprovisto de lujos y comodidades. Don Pedro, finalmente, termina con la farsa -sin que ella lo advierta- al proponerle al matrimonio que viva en su casa. La joven acepta con la seguridad de que su esposo pronto recuperará su herencia y, desde el escarnio, reconoce que la vida de los pobres está idealizada en los libros, comparada con la realidad.Afín a la corriente neoclásica y al teatro del dramaturgo español Leandro Fernández de Moratín, Gorostiza, como bien afirma el investigador Felipe Reyes Palacios, puede considerarse un autor "neoclásico tardío, o híbrido", Felipe Reyes Palacios, Manuel Eduardo de Gorostiza en su contexto dramatúrgico. Formó parte de los repertorios nacionales en diversas ocasiones, llegando a tener, incluso, algunas representaciones ya avanzado el siglo xx en la década de los ochenta.Manuel María del Pilar Eduardo de Gorostiza y Cepeda (Veracruz, Virreinato de Nueva España, 13 de octubre de 1789 - Tacubaya, México, 23 de octubre de 1851) fue un dramaturgo, periodista y diplomático hispanomexicano.
