Dopo una parte introduttiva molto semplificata del periodo nuragico, romano, bizantino e giudicale arriviamo al 27 ottobre 1414, quando Re Ferdinando I di Aragona, assegnò la curatorìa di Gippi, in feudo a Giovanni Civiller, che nel marzo del 1415 costruì la sua casa-fortezza a Sorres, in un'area di proprietà della Chiesa Cagliaritana, e cominciò quindi l'opera di ripopolamento del villaggio.
Nel 1420 il Civiller presenta supplica al nuovo Re Alfonso V per la conferma dell'infeudazione che ottiene con pure l'aggiunta di VILLA XIDRO, prima non compresa.
Il Civiller, con testamento rogato dal notaio Vinat del 12 marzo 1423 nomina erede universale la sua unica figlia Aldonça, che ne entra in possesso ufficialmente con atto del 20 dicembre 1427.
Aldonça nel 1427 sposa Giacomo Besora che fu poi Viceré di Sardegna. Ebbero tre figli: Giacomo, Isabella e Galcerando.
Giacomo Besora morì nel dicembre del 1451.
Aldonça Civiller de Besora il 29 maggio 1455, presso il castello di Sorres stipulò le Franchigie con gli abitanti di Serramanna, "in nome proprio quanto come tutrice e curatrice dei figli e degli eredi del magnifico signore Giacomo de Besora suo defunto marito".
Le Franchigie per quel tempo furono atto di eccezionale importanza che anticipò di duecento anni le concessioni che i signori concedettero ai loro sudditi nel resto dell'Italia e della Francia. Per la prima volta i rurali erano definiti popolo o abitante e non vassallo.
Si vedrà quindi valorizzata l'importante figura di Aldonça Civiller de Besora di Sorres, una nobildonna che in un tempo in cui la figura femminile era vista come una semplice curatrice dei figli e delle faccende domestiche e che fu invece protagonista del suo tempo.
Si arriva al 1617, quando Antonio Brondo y Ruecas diventa il I conte di Serramanna, fino ad arrivare a Luis Crespí de Valldaura, l'attuale detentore del titolo.
Un resoconto della manifestazione legata al 400° anniversario della concessione del titolo, avvenuta nel 2017 a Serramanna, con la presenza proprio del signor Luis.
Si propone un itinerario a Cagliari che ripercorre i luoghi che hanno caratterizzato le vicende anche della contea di Serramanna.

Dalle tradizioni popolari alla cultura, all'arte, all'artigianato. parecchie sagre popolari che si svolgono in diversi centri dell'isola hanno radici nella cultura ispanica: i candelieri di Sassari, le manifestazioni in tutta l'isola dei misteri della Settimana Santa, e la Sartiglia di Oristano, anche la festa di sant'Efisio a Cagliari risale al tempo della dominazione spagnola.
