About the Book

Confucius, ethics and government. We are witnessing a transcendental moment in the history and development and evolution of the human species, in which society as a whole, and man in particular, find themselves immersed in a profound crisis of values motivated by the growing structural changes in the form of world organization: globalization and the continuous and profound crises of the capitalist production system, which prevails as a socio-economic and cultural formation.Other socioeconomic forms with a social and collectivist role of production have failed and have not been able to relieve the capitalist system, so it remains as the basic form of direction of today's society characterized by the unequal distribution of goods of production, always corresponding the worst part to the dispossessed classes, while the owners and those who direct these media appropriate most of the goods of society, leaving in the hands of the dispossessed the minimum and exclusively necessary to continue reproducing and continue this unequal and inhuman cycle of existence. It is a kind of vicious circle in which exploiters and exploited participate and in which the latter always bear the brunt, not because of unconsciousness, lack of culture, little fighting spirit or any other subjective cause, but because the institutions that form part of the social superstructure are subordinate and in the hands of the privileged classes. It is sometimes difficult to understand how, after having gone through so many stages of the historical development of humanity and at a time when the productive forces have reached a degree of development capable of satisfying the material and human needs of society as a whole, hunger, malnutrition, ignorance, discrimination and the absence of the right to education and health, among many other evils, are still present in many regions of the planet. The imbalance is such that the term, in essence derogatory, of "third world countries" is sometimes referred to as the places where previous ills reign, including the lack of rights. But is it the case that none of these evils are present in what are called developed societies or of the first world in correlation with those just mentioned? The answer is categorically no. In these countries, although their institutions cannot be compared with those of the third world, there is also inequality and brutal exploitation - let us adjust the term - covertly brutal from one social class to another. This existing class inequality as to the form of ownership or not of the means of production, is manifested in the sense that some have privileges to an elite education in perfectly equipped private institutions, or to health care on equal terms, in addition to having priority as regards access to government or management positions in society, while the others are totally disadvantaged in this sense.Apparently we are referring to "democratic" societies where democracy is not fully equated. There is no equality of opportunity for all, so that young people often find it difficult, or impossible, to access education in keeping with the new times, and many of them are forced to abandon their studies and interrupt this work that must be carried out throughout their lives in a constant, systematic and uninterrupted manner. Thus, institutions of any form of government in the world today suffer, to a greater or lesser extent, from the fact that they respond to the interests of the predominant social classes, and elements of the social superstructure such as ethics, education and politics are also within this subordination.
